Skin Care 101

Skin Care 101
For centuries Ayurveda has supported the benefit of using oils to nourish the skin and heal the body and mind. Our skin is our largest organ and the first line of defense against disease. Ayurveda considers the skin to be a boundary to your environment. It controls entrance into your systems, permitting nutrients to enter and refusing entry for pathogens.

This is why it is so important to keep the structural integrity of your skin strong. If your skin is dry and cracked your entire being is more susceptible to depletion from bacteria and viruses. The best way to nourish your skin is by giving it organic, nutritive oils to replenish your cells and soften any dryness which leads to cracked, inflamed skin.

Additionally, washing your skin should be a simple affair. There is no need to use harsh soaps and cleansers. I use baking soda and Castile soap to wash my face and body. The baking soda has an exfoliating property without drying the skin. A gentle washing of the skin helps keep it intact and, therefore, healthy.

Quite often, I apply Botany Butter in the shower to wet skin allowing the hot water to “pull” the oils into my skin. I then pat dry and my skin feels hydrated all day. Speaking of hydration, it is absolutely necessary to drink plenty of warm to hot water daily. The hot water absorbs readily into the body hydrating much more efficiently than cold water.

So… Nourish your skin, Hydrate your body and Enjoy the beautiful results!
